Getting Back on My Feet

June 12th, 2015 | by admin |

Never once in my life did I think that I would be bankrupt, but it happened to me last year. Things just didn’t go my way. The factory where I was working at went under, and as a result, I lost my job. I already had loans and debts that I was making payments on, and the little bit of money that I was getting from unemployment wasn’t enough to cover these costs, in addition to the cost of living. I contacted a Sacramento bankruptcy lawyer that I found on a website and he help me out.

By declaring bankruptcy, I was able to lessen the burden of paying off all the money I owed, but I was still left without a job and low income. I started looking at different job websites to find a job to replace my old one. I didn’t have any particular skills or certifications, but I did have a lot of work experience, so I figured that would be good for something. Hunting for a job wasn’t an easy task. Every time I thought I found a job that I would be good at, either someone else had already taken the job, or the employer wanted someone with more qualifications. There were even cases where I never heard a reply back.

Eventually, I was able to get a job interview with a company that produces ice cream. They liked my previous factory experience and though I would be a good worker at their factory. I accepted the job and started working the following week. I operate one of the machines that mixes all of the ice cream ingredients. The factory can get cold sometimes, but I don’t mind it. As an employee, I get to eat free ice cream, as long as I don’t eat into the profits.
